A fire broke out on Indonesia-flagged general cargo ship Caraka Jaya Niaga III-7 while the ship was anchored near Gresik Port, Indonesia, on Thursday, Tribun News writes.

The fire is believed to had started while the crew were doing welding work in the engine room, from which the sparks spread to the stern and the laden timber the ship was transporting.

Despite inclement weather, all of the 24 crew members were rescued from the vessel without injuries.

The fire has been extinguished by patrol boats of the Gresik port along with the crews of the tugboats sailing in the vicinity, BIMA 333 and Orient Victory 2.
