Ferry operator MyFerryLink has cancelled all services this morning due to industrial action, the company said.

The cancellation will be in force until further notice, the company added, saying that as of July 2nd the company will have no sailings as it is scheduled to close.

The service has been cancelled having been restored to normal just two days ago following Calais’ workers strike amid job cuts.

The industrial action has resulted from the announcement that over 200 employees, formerly employed by SCOP Seafrance, are expected to lose jobs under a deal between DFDS and Eurotunnel that includes sale of two sister ferries Rodin and Berlioz to the Copenhagen-based shipping company.

Some 600 former employees of SeaFrance were operating the MyFerryLink ferry service between Calais and Dover.

However, DFDS said that it would not be able to take over the entire workforce and will employ around 400 people.

MyFerryLink acquired the SeaFrance ships after SNCF allowed its subsidiary to be liquidated, leading to a large number of redundancies. However, it did not employ the SCOP SeaFrance staff.
