Celestyal Olympia, a cruise ship owned by Cyprus-based cruise line Celestyal Cruises, has arrived at the Turkish Besiktas Shipyard for its scheduled repairs and maintenance.

Named for the ancient sanctuary that was the birthplace of the Olympic Games, the cruise vessel was initially scheduled to start its maintenance works at the Greek Syros Shipyard.

However, after it waited for its repairs to start for three days due to disruptions of operations at the shipyard, the vessel’s owner decided to send Celestyal Olympia to Turkey.

The 1982-built vessel, which can accommodate 1,664 passengers, will start its 2016 cruise season in mid-March from Lavrio, Greece.

Celestyal Olympia, featuring a length of 215 meters and a width of 33 meters, is scheduled to deploy on 134 cruises in 2016, visiting a number of cities and island in Greece and Turkey.

Celestyal Cruises operates cruises from Cyprus, France, Italy, India and Greece.
