Qatar’s Nakilat, the world’s largest LNG shipper, said its Q-Max LNG carrier Al Samriya recently transited around Cape of Good Hope for the first time, en-route to UK’s South Hook LNG terminal.

The Cape of Good Hope is a rocky headland on the Atlantic coast of the Cape Peninsula, South Africa.

The LNG tanker Al Samriya, with a capacity of 263,000 cbm, is one of the largest in the world.

The Q-Max vessel has been built by the South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in 2009.

Nakilat says its fleet of 67 wholly- and jointly-owned LNG vessels represent a total investment of approximately $11 billion and have a combined carrying capacity of over 8.5 million cubic meters or 15% of the world capacity.
