Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Esshu Maru on December 16, rescued a crewmember from a wrecked shipping boat in the North Pacific Ocean.

The vessel was underway in the North Pacific Ocean, heading for Pyeongtaek in South Korea, via the Panama Canal, in the morning on December 16, when it received a request for rescue assistance from the United States Maritime Rescue Coordination Center.

MOL said that the crewmember was rescued at 11:30 the same day.

The distressed crewmember was handed over to the United States Coast Guard off Oahu, Hawaii on December 22, MOL added.
