Singapore’s Kim Heng Marine & Oilfield (KHMO) has secured a contract by a repeat customer to carry out Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) at an offshore wind project in South East Asia.

The HDD contract, expected to commence in September, entails the implementation of a dirigible, trenchless technique and design for the installation of underground and subsea cables and pipelines.

It will include using both land assets and subsea cable pulling/laying vessels owned and operated by Kim Heng, the company said.

Kim Hang completed its first marine civil engineering contract for the client earlier this year.

“We are delighted to secure the project works to support our venture into renewable energy services for shallow water subsea cable laying and wind farm projects in Asia,” the company stated. “Leveraging on our expertise in the oil and gas sector, we will continue to capitalise on every suitable market opportunity to secure more works and intend to develop our competitive advantage and track record not only in the HDD space, but also in the renewable energy sector.”
