Saudi Arabia's Zamil Offshore, established in 1977, has contracted Dutch ship design and engineering company Conoship International to design an ultra-shallow-draft dive support vessel (DSV) for the Gulf Region's oil & gas sector.
The 76.2-meter-long vessel, with a shallow draft of 2.5 meters, features a lightweight hull structure and optimized hull shape, as well as an efficient diesel-electric propulsion arrangement for DP operations, Conoship reported.
According to the company, CFD analysis and tank testing have been applied to minimize hull resistance and optimized flow to the propulsion gear.
The DSV has a clear working deck of 360 m2, a knuckle boom crane with a reach of 22 meters and 20-ton load capacity, as well as two Azimuth thrusters. Dive support capabilities are centered around a dedicated diving deck and control room featuring equipment including LARS, ROV and dive support systems.
Conoship’s scope included the full concept and basic design packages, delivering a complete engineering package suited for yard selection and construction.
The vessel can achieve station keeping by the DP class 2 system or by twin spud-poles in shallow draft scenarios. Lower hull resistance and optimized engine load distribution are said to reduce fuel consumption per operational hour compared to standard alternatives.
It offers accommodation for 76 persons.
