Diana Containerships Stretches Pucon Charter

Nasdaq-listed Diana Containerships has through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary agreed to extend the present time charter contract for one of its Post-Panamax container vessels, the m/v Pucon, for a period of up to minimum May 10 to maximum July 20, 2016.

The new gross charter rate will be USD 17,000 per day, minus a 3.75% commission paid to third parties.

The new charter period for the 2006-built, 6,451 TEU boxship will start on August 20, 2015.

Pucon’s current charter contract, started in August 2013 with Chile’s Compania Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV), now part of Hapag-Lloyd, stipulates that the charterer will pay a compensation for the early re-delivery of the vessel equal to the amount of USD 6,000 per day for the outstanding period between August 20, 2015 and up to March 20, 2016.

This employment is anticipated to generate approximately USD 4.42 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the charter extension. Diana also expects to receive USD 1.278 million as a compensation for the early re-delivery of the vessel.
