DNV GL Appoints 10 New Regional Managers

DNV GL’s regional managers bring a wealth of experience from their respective legacy organisations. These appointments are intended to ensure a strong organisation that is built on the experience of its people and able to meet its customers’ needs from day one.

Half of the managers will continue in a position similar to that which they had before the merger. The regional managers are:

 Uwe Bullwinkel, Regional Manager – Middle East & India

Formerly the Head of the Americas Region in GL, Uwe Bullwinkel has been with this classification society for almost 25 years and has held a variety of managerial roles around the world. Mr Bullwinkel qualified as a ship operation technology engineer and was a chief engineer on LPG carriers.

Steen Brodsgaard Lund, Regional Manager – South East Asia & Pacific

Steen Lund was formerly GL’s Executive Vice President for Asia Pacific and Managing Director China. He joined GL in 2010 after spending over 20 years with A. P. Moller – Maersk.

Torgeir Sterri, Regional Manager – Maritime Greater China

Prior to this appointment, Torgeir Sterri was DNV’s Country Chair for Benelux and Regional Manager of Central Europe. He has played a vital role in introducing Chinese shipyards to the European market and has 20 years’ experience in the global maritime industry.

Paal Johansen, Regional Manager – Americas

Paal Johansen takes on this role after holding the position of Vice President and Business Director for DNV KEMA Renewable Energy Services in Texas. He has worked for DNV since 1982, holding managerial positions in Asia, Europe, the Americas and Middle East. These include being regional manager for DNV Korea and Japan.

Ioannis Kourmatzis, Regional Manager – Western Europe & Africa

Ioannis Kourmatzis was formerly Head of Division Europe in DNV Maritime and Oil & Gas. He has more than 37 years’ experience and has held various management positions, including as Regional Manager North Americas and Regional Manager South Europe.

Other managers continuing in the same positions as those they had before the merger – now including both legacy DNV and legacy GL.

 Jon Rysst, Regional Manager – Korea & Japan

Helge Kjeøy, Regional Manager – Norway, Finland, Russia & Baltic

Henrik Bach, Regional Manager – Denmark, Sweden & Poland

Nikolaos Boussounis, Regional Manager – East Mediterranean

Matthias Ritters, Regional Manager – Germany

In addition, all other managerial positions in DNV GL worldwide are anticipated to be in place by 1 January 2014.
