Dutch Kooiman Marine Group said it has recently developed a push boat for inland operations with LNG dual-fuel propulsion system.

The company informed in its statement that the design of the push boat has been approved by CCNR (Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine), ADN and Lloyds Register.

The newly designed push boat is powered by four Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines plus a DF auxiliary engine.

Kooiman adds that the four propulsion line concept with shaft generators, combined with batteries, enables the vessel to store power while sailing upstream. The stored power can be used while sailing downstream in combination with only two engines, the company said.
