Port of Koper Welcomes Biggest Vessel Ever
On the 8th of May 2014, the Port of Koper, Slovenia saw the arrival of the largest cargo vessel ever, the 327-metre long Helen N, which was delivering 200,201 tonnes of iron ore, another record for the port.
A test shipment of iron ore briquettes shall also be arriving in the near future, and such semi-processed raw material cargos are anticipated to increase over the coming years, the port authorities said in a release.
In addition, Luka Koper’s terminals achieved some very encouraging results in April. At the Bulk Cargo Terminal, two shifts loaded a total of 292 trucks transporting 7,150 tonnes of soya derivatives, sugar beet pulp and soyabean, which is the largest ever amount recorded in a single day.
The monthly record was also broken at the Container Terminal, where in April they handled 58,155 TEUs.
