Norwegian shipping company Eidesvik Offshore and Seabed Geosolutions have agreed to change the contract for the node-handling vessel Subsea Viking, putting it on standby.

Eidesvik said on Friday that the contract would now include a standby period for the vessel until the start of planned operations under the original contract.

According to the company, the agreed standby period started on 27 March 2020 and is limited to 1 April 2021.

However, operations may begin before the expiry of the stand-by period.

Seabed Geosolutions awarded the contract for the Subsea Viking back in February. The vessel was hired from Eidesvik along with the seismic source vessel Vantage.

The duration of the contracts was agreed to be four months with further options for extension. Both vessels were then booked until the end of July 2020.

The two vessels have been working for Seabed Geosolutions since early 2018.
