Statoil charters LNG PSV from Eidesvik

Eidesvik Offshore, a Norwegian shipping company has won a contract for its LNG-powered platform supply vessel from oil and gas giant Statoil.

The LNG-powered PSV Viking Prince will be chartered to Statoil on a 6-month contract, Eidesvik said in a filing to the stock exchange.

The terms of the contract are in “accordance with current market conditions”, the shipping company said without providing any additional information.

The contract is due to start in August this year.

Eidesvik currently owns five LNG-powered PSVs, according to its website. All the vessels are equipped with Wärtsilä’s dual-fuel engines, meaning they can run either on LNG or diesel.

The vessels were built at Kleven Verft in Norway and are fitted for use in arctic waters with ‘winterization’ and de-icing solutions.
