STS LNG Transfer Between Two Q-Flex Tankers Completed Off Singapore

Qatargas-chartered LNG vessels recently carried out the first ship-to-ship (STS) transfer of LNG between two Q-Flex type LNG tankers. The vessels were anchored in Singapore, according to an e-mailed statement sent to LNG World News.

The transfer of 211,000 cbm, which was conducted utilising in-house equipment and contractor with LNG STS expertise, commenced on 22nd January and completed on 28th January 2014,” the statement said.

The ships involvedĀ  in the STS were the 215,000 cbm Al Gharrafa and the 217,000 cbm Al Ghashamiya. The Al Garrafa LNG tanker collided with a Hanjin boxship at the end of December off Singapore, an accident that smashed the bow of the Q-Flex tanker.
