One of the world’s largest owners of LNG vessels, Teekay, said that a keel laying ceremony was recently held for its second newbuilding powered with MEGI twin engines.

The Oak Spirit LNG carrier is currently under construction at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea, Teekay said.

Once completed, the vessel will start transporting the chilled gas under a 5-year charter contract with LNG player Cheniere.

Cheniere is currently building two LNG export projects, namely Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi, from which US gas will be shipped overseas.
