Container volumes at the Commercial Port of Vladivostok, part of Russian transport group FESCO, have reached a new record in June, the group said.

The port’s monthly container throughput hit a record high of 47,770 TEUs, or a 22% gain on the previous record box volume handled in November 2013 (46,46 TEUs).

During January-July 2014 period the number of handled containers rose 8.4% year-on-year to 242,630 TEUs.
The company attributed the container volume growth to “optimization of its business process and modernization of the infrastructure at the port complex, along with attracting new customers in import and transit sectors”.

The port, located in the Far East region of Russia, specializes in handling bulk cargo, liquid bulk, forest products, general cargo and containers. The company also supplies bunker fuel to ships entering the port.
