A normal sunny Saturday and the area beside Annapolis’ Ego Docks might normally be busy with a steady turnout of locals and visitors taking a stroll to see which shining craft has tied up in the harbour to be admired. But this morning hundreds of keen sailing fans gathered to hear the thoughts of the seven skippers of the Volvo Open 70’s as they await Sunday’s start. In the hot sunshine, the mood was relaxed and easy. The boats are prepped and ready to go, the weather teams working behind the scenes seeking any advance information on the passage out of the Chesapeake.
