MAN Diesel & Turbo on Tuesday said it has received orders for M-type, electronically-controlled, gas-injection (ME-GI) engines from Maran Gas, for its two newbuilds at DSME of South Korea.

The unit of Greece’s Angelicoussis Shipping Group, Maran Gas, ordered two 173,400-cbm LNG carriers with options for up to two additional vessels, with deliveries expected in 2019.

The vessels, with a 295 meters length and a breadth of 46 meters, will feature two MAN B&W ME-GI gas and fuel burning engines each, meeting the IMO Tier III regulations.

In addition to the LNG carriers, MAN will also supply two ME-GI engines for the two 318,000 dwt VLCCs, Maran Gas ordered at the South Korean shipyard.

According to Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, the total deal for the four vessels is worth around US$588 million.
