As disclosed, the vessel was floated out at Ferus Smit Shipyard in Leer, Germany on May 3, 2024. The company also hosted a naming ceremony for the tanker, and the ship was named Thun Reliance.

Thun Reliance, like its sister vessel Thun Resource, which was delivered in February this year, has a length of 115 meters, a breadth of 15 meters, and a cargo tank capacity of 9540 cbm.

R-Class vessels are a further development of the E-class tankers that were recently delivered to Thun Tankers. The ships will have identical main dimensions, but this time with thirteen coated cargo tanks.

Furthermore, adaptive propulsion to minimize energy usage, UPS battery pack, the latest hull design and the resource efficient machinery are some examples of the vessels’ new features.

“The vessels will be built to the latest design standards and often exceeding existing and forthcoming regulations,” according to Ferus Smit.

The ordered vessels are part of Thun Tankers fleet renewal program to meet future demands.
