Wisdom Marine Lines adds bulker duo at Namura

Taiwanese shipping company Wisdom Marine Lines has returned to Namura Shipbuilding for two 40,000 dwt bulk carriers.

The company revealed that it would be paying around $33 million per unit at the Japanese yard, bringing the total cost of the order to around $66 million.

The duo is slated for delivery in 2026. Further details on the vessel specifications and fuels that would be used were not disclosed.

The company ordered three 82,400 dwt bulk carriers at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding in June 2021 and two 64,000dwt bulkers from Imabari Shipbuilding in October 2021 for a total of $172 million.

Overall, Wisdom Marine has eleven newbuildings on order, predominantly at Japanese yards, data from the company’s website shows. These include six Handysize bulkers, with orders spread between Onomichi, Namura, and Tsuneishi shipyards.

Three Panamaxes and two Supramaxes are also on order at Tsuneishi and Imbari Shipbuilding. All vessels are slated for delivery between 2023 and 2024.

The company’s live fleet comprises around 140 bulkers.
