For this Interim position, Damen Naval is looking for a (Junior) Data Engineer VBA who can start on a temporary basis. Are you ready to dive into the world of naval Shipbuilding and data integration? Damen Naval is seeking a motivated (Junior) Data Engineer VBA to join our team. This is an entry-level position and an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or Junior professionals to contribute to our innovative projects. You will be involved in processing data, using Visual Basic for Application (VBA) skills to process and organize data in Microsoft Excel, ensuring data integrity to deliver either reports or to enable data entry into our advanced PDM/PLM tool, 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX).

As (Junior) Data Engineer VBA at Damen Naval, your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating solutions using VBA in Microsoft Excel to process, organize and validate engineering data, by automating checks and validations to ensure the data is complete and correct.
  • Provide visibility on missing or incorrect data that can be reported and used to mature the dataset before it is submitted to be uploaded into 3DX.
  • Developing macros to perform repetitive tasks automatically.
  • Analysing large datasets and maintaining complex models using VBA scripts.
  • Ensuring data integrity and participating in reviews that depend on your data and reports.
  • Identifying and reporting data inconsistencies to relevant stakeholders.
  • Supporting teams working across different systems and components in enriching their data.
  • Assisting team members in interpreting data from subcontractors and accessing the needed information.

To excel as interim (Junior) Data Engineer VBA at Damen Naval, you should bring:

  • Secondary vocational (MBO-4) or bachelor degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience and skills in data processing or analysis using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft VBA, and preferably some affinity with PDM/PLM tools and/or other large database applications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to completing tasks on time.
  • A solid drive and motivation to work with large datasets in Excel with the aim of achieving high quality datasets as output in supporting the effort to develop of military ship design and development.
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Dutch and/or German is a plus.
  • Good communication skills to work in a large project team, teaming up with people of many different nationalities.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
