50 Hornsea One Turbines Left to Go

124 out of 174 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines have been installed and commissioned at the Hornsea Project One wind farm in the UK, a spokesperson from Ørsted told Offshore WIND.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up vessel Bold Tern is in charge of installing 88 out of the 174 turbines, with A2SEA’s Sea Challenger responsible for installing the remaining 86 units.

Hornsea Project One reached the halfway turbine installation point in mid-June when the 87th turbine had been installed at the site some 120km off Yorkshire.

The 1.2GW offshore wind farm, due to become the world’s largest once fully online in 2020, saw the first turbine installed this February.
