Chengxi Shipyard Wins Four BCs

Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd., a subsidiary corporation wholly-owned by China CSSC Holdings Limited, will build four more 64,000 dwt bulk carriers for Ming Wah Shipping, a subsidiary of the China Merchants Energy Shipping.

The shipper announced a few days ago that it has exercised contract options with Chengxi shipyard on additional Ultramax vessels.

These 64,000 dwt bulkers, also known as Dolphin 64, are energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly vessels designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI).

Compared to a 57,000 dwt bulk carrier, the Dolphin 64 can save up to $1.03 million in fuel costs per year with increased storage capacity by 8.5%, cargo capacity by 11.6% and decreased fuel consumption by 20%.
