Previously known as Containerships Finn, the newly-delivered unit is the third of overall four newbuilds the Finland-based Containerships has on order from China.

Additionally, the company said in October 2018 that it had signed a preliminary agreement for the fifth and sixth ships in the class but is yet to provide an update on the deal.

Delivery of 1,400 TEU Containerships Aurora follows deliveries of Containerships Nord and Containerships Polar in December 2018 and June 2019. The Handy container vessels feature a length of 170 meters and a width of 27 meters. They are suited for the navigational and climatic challenges of the operational area in Northern Europe and the Baltics.

The ships are deployed on CMA CGM’s redesigned BALT 2 service, linking Northern Europe with the Baltic states and Russia.

Containerships was acquired by the French liner shipping major in October 2018.
