Petrobras hits oil and gas production records in 2016

Brazil’s state-controlled oil and gas company, Petrobras, hit a number of oil and gas production records during 2016. 

The company’s total production in Brazil reached 2.63 million of barrels of oil equivalent per day, 1 percent above 2015. Natural gas production reached a record 77 million cubic meters  per day in 2016.

During the month of December, Petrobras achieved new monthly oil and gas production records, company’s monthly report shows.

The average oil production in Brazil for the first time exceeded 2.3 million barrels per day, reaching 2.82 million boe/d, 3 percent above the record registered in September 2016.

Natural gas production saw a 2 percent increase in comparison to the previous month, reaching 81.8 million cubic meters per day.

Oil and natural-gas production operated by Petrobras in the pre-salt layer was at 1.58 million boe/d, displaying a 45 percent increase between December 2015 and December 2016.

Average annual production of oil and gas abroad remained flat compared to 2015, reaching 2.79 million boe/d with reduction attributed to the executed divestments, one of which was the sale of Petrobras Argentina.
