Petrobras oil and gas production up in January

Brazil’s state-owned energy giant Petrobras said its oil and gas production in January reached 2.86 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed).

This is a rise of 8.7 percent compared to December 2016, when the production reached 2.63 million of barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The company noted in its report that 2.74 million boed were produced in Brazil and 0.12 million boed abroad.

In January, the natural gas production in Brazil, excluding the liquefied volume, was 81.4 million cubic meters per day, in line with the production of December, 2016

It is also worth noting that oil and natural gas production at the pre-salt layer operated by Petrobras reached a new record of 1.59 million.

Natural gas production was 8.6 million cubic meters per day, 16 percent lower than the volume produced in the previous month. This decrease occurred mostly because of the demand reduction for the gas from Bolivia.
