Fishermen voice concern about dredging plan

A handful of Northumberland Strait fishermen are concerned about a plan to dredge the Charlottetown waterfront, saying the dredged soil could affect fishing grounds if it drifts a long distance. More than 30 fishermen attended a public meeting at Charlottetown city hall on Wednesday to express their concerns, but those concerns went nowhere when city officials said the council has no authority over the dredging of the harbour. Officials said dredging would not come under the city’s jurisdiction.
