The Netherlands: Vroon Offshore Takes Delivery of New AHTS Vessel VOS Apollo

Vroon Offshore Services (VOS)  took delivery of a new addition to their offshore fleet. The VOS Apollo, an anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel built at the Fujian Shipyard in China, was delivered yesterday 15 September 2011, in China.

She is the third in a series of six “A-types”, with the remaining vessels due for delivery during the next 12 months. The “A” vessel type is slightly more advanced than the “H-type” and “T-Type” AHTS vessels also operated by Vroon, having a bigger bow thruster (8 MT) and stern thruster (6 MT). As a consequence, these vessels have improved manoeuvring and station-keeping capabilities. The VOS Apollo has a DP-1 notation.

In a ceremony held at the Shipyard in July, VOS Apollo was named by Mrs Marij Schoenmakers, wife of Mr Con Schoenmakers, member of Vroon Group B.V. Supervisory Board.
