Agility Group Designing Semi-Sub Rig for COSL

Norway’s Agility Group recently signed a contract with China’s COSL for design of a semi-submersible drilling rig specifically designed for drilling operations in the South China Sea.

The new rig is designed to operate in water depths of up to 1500 meters and the drilling depth of up to 9,000 meters (30,000 feet). The unit, named COSL5000FT, will be able to accommodate a crew of 160 people.

COSL is yet to sign a contract for the construction of the rig. According to China’s simic.net.cn, DSIC, SWS, CIMC Raffles and COSCO Shipyard are main contenders for the job.
