Alba B3 platform a step closer to installation off E. Guinea

Alba B3 platform a step closer to installation

As previously reported by Offshore Energy Today, Dutch firm Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) is building a platform for Marathon Oil’s project offshore Equatorial Guinea.

The work on the construction of both the jacket and the topsides of the compression platform, named Alba B3, is being carried out in Heerema’s yards in the Netherlands.

The Zwijndrecht-based company has this week through its social media channels shared a photo of the completed jacket and topsides being loaded on the seagoing barge at its Vlissingen yard.

Preparations are being made for the sail away to Equatorial Guinea Alba field, planned for the end of November.

According to the company’s announcement from 2013 when it won the contract, the gas compression platform should be installed at its offshore location by 2015 end.

The transportation and installation of the platform, will be carried out by HFG’s sister division Heerema Marine Contractors. The Alba field is a gas and condensate field located approximately 20 miles north of Bioko Island. The new platform, which will be bridge-linked to the existing Alba offshore structure, should help Marathon boost production from the field.
