Anadarko terminates ‘Belford Dolphin’ contract

Anadarko, a U.S.-based independent oil and gas exploration and production company has terminated a contract for one of Dolphin Drilling’s offshore drilling rigs.

Fred. Olsen Energy ASA, a parent company of Dolphin Drilling, has said that its subsidiary has received a termination for convenience notice from Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for the contract for the Belford Dolphin drillship.

The termination for the drillship, currently employed offshore Mozambique, will be effective in early September 2015. The termination fee is approximately $52 million.

Fred. Olsen has said that the rig will undergo its five-year Class Renewal Survey in second/third quarter 2015, which will take around 100 days and cost $130 million.
