APPEA: Oil, Gas Industry Congratulates New WA Government

APPEA Oil, Gas Industry Congratulates New WA Government

APPEA says the clear cut election result in Western Australia creates a platform for the Government to provide renewed leadership in capturing the benefits of growth opportunities associated with the state’s oil and gas sector.

APPEA Chief Operating Officer – Western Region, Stedman Ellis congratulated the Liberal leader Colin Barnett on the result. He said: “The oil and gas industry is a significant contributor to the Western Australian economy and it looks forward to the re-elected Liberal National Government taking early action on its post-election policy plans.

“The industry would place particular priority on early action to further improve the Government’s commitments to strengthening a market based approach to energy policy, extending the existing approvals tracking scheme and to establishing a biodiversity, water and cultural heritage database.

“APPEA also wishes to acknowledge the significant contribution of the outgoing Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Norman Moore. His stewardship of the petroleum sector has been a critical part the industry’s success in Western Australia and after 36 years in Parliament, he has much to be proud of.”

APPEA looks forward to the Government taking a reinvigorated approach to the economic opportunities and policy challenges confronting Western Australia.
