Australia: Inpex Starts Survey of Darwin Harbor

Inpex Starts Survey of Darwin Harbor

Inpex, an energy giant, is ramping up preparations for dredging of a shipping channel in Darwin Harbour, ABC News reported.

The deepened channel will enable the traveling of large LNG tankers through the harbour to Blaydin Point, place where a multi-billion dollar plant is being built to process gas piped from the Ichthys field in the Timor Sea.

Divers, survey boats and barges are starting to work in the channel area this week. Inpex wants a completely accurate picture of the floor before the dredging starts.

Inpex is asking those using the harbour to take notice of new signs and activity.
