Australia: NSW Takes Oceanlinx to Court

Australia NSW Takes Oceanlinx to Court

The Government of New South Wales (NSW) is taking wave energy developer, Oceanlinx, to court over broken promises to remove the decommissioned wave energy generator, Illawarra Mercury writes.

Oceanlinx was testing whether the Port Kembla waters are suitable for wave energy development from2006 to 2009, and since then the decommissioned “Mark 1” wave generator is sitting at Port Kembla.

The company had an agreement with Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) to moor the wave generator at the port, but when the agreement was terminated in February last year RMS requested removal of the device.

After a few failed promises from Oceanlinx, RMS has decided to pursue legal actions against the company.
