Azerbaijan: SOCAR President Meets US Ambassador

 

On March 10, SOCAR President Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev received Mr. Matthew Bryza, the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Azerbaijan.

Saluting the guest, Mr. Abdullayev wished him success in his future activities.

Mr. Bryza said he would make every effort to contribute to developing the Azerbaijani-US relations by mentioning that last years of his activity were connected with Azerbaijan.

He also praised Azerbaijan’s role in regional and global energy projects.

Mr. Abdullayev spoke about latest achievements in development of “Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli” and “Shahdeniz” projects and pointed out the discovery of “Umid” gas condensate field.

He also said Azerbaijan supported the Southern Energy Corridor Project and noted the work implemented within the development of the first phase of “Shahdeniz” field, as well as “Absheron” and “Umid” projects.

Ambassador Matthew Bryza said Azerbaijan and the US enjoyed fruitful energy cooperation, expressing confidence it would further deepen.

He said Azerbaijan’s energy projects opened up new opportunities for expanding the bilateral energy cooperation.

Abdullayev praised US companies’ role in implementing energy projects in Azerbaijan.

The SOCAR chief also stressed there were wide opportunities for expanding the energy cooperation between the two countries.

Afterwards, Mr. Bryza was presented the jubilee medal “Əsrin Müqaviləsi-15” (“The Contract of the Contury-15”).
