Bangladesh Pushes LNG Terminal Bid Deadline

The Chairman of Petrobangla, Hussain Monsur, said today that Bangladesh has extended the final bid deadline to April 15, for four companies shortlisted to construct the floating LNG import terminal at Moheshkhali Island.

The initial January 31 deadline was extended in response to requests from the four bidders, who were shortlisted 45 days before that,” Platts cited Hussain Monsur as saying.

The shortlisted companies are Golar LNG Energy, a consortium of US’ Astra Oil and Excelerate Energy, South Korea’s Samsung C&T Corporation and India’s Hiranandani Electricity.

The floating LNG import terminal will be able to handle 5 million mt/year of LNG, and it will have facilities for berthing and mooring of LNG ships with a capacity of 138,000 to 260,000 cubic metres.
