According to BBC, the company drilled the appraisal well using the Maersk Resilient jack-up drilling rig. The well was brought on stream in June, BBC has reported, which extends the Jade field.

The Jade Field, located approximately 240 km south-east of Aberdeen in the J-Block area,  first came on stream in 2002 and consists of a normally unmanned platform tied back to Judy.

ConocoPhillips operates the Jade field with a  32.5% interest. Its partners in the area are UK’s BG (35.0%), U.S.-based Chevron (19.9%), Italy’s Eni (7.0%) and and Austrian OMV (5.6%)

The new has also been confirmed by the industry body Oil & Gas UK which, through a hashtag in a tweet on their twitter account, said it was proud of the accomplishment made by ConocoPhillips.
