Berlin to Host Conference of Wind Power Engineering Community (Germany) (2)

The Conference of the Wind Power Engineering Community (COWEC), which is taking place June 18 and 19, 2013, at the Estrel Berlin in Berlin, Germany, will focus on the key challenges facing the wind power industry.

More than 80 speakers from 20 countries will provide expert insights into all aspects of the industry, from the different gear types and rotor blade designs through topics such as servicing, damage, failure analysis, and vibrations, as well as the global wind energy market.

Jointly attending the event will be PCS Power Converter Solutions from Berlin and VEM Sachsenwerk from Dresden. In their presentation at 3:45 PM on June 18, in the Estrel Hall, Section C5/C6, the two companies will report on the current status of their collaboration. Dipl.-Ing. Joachim Günther from PCS and Dipl.-Ing. Ralf Hanauer from VEM will discuss the market-specific requirements for generator and converter concepts, present the latest solutions and their efficiencies, explore the various technical solutions for fulfilling international grid code requirements, and provide insights into optimizing these systems. Like the entire conference, the presentation, entitled “Electrical Components in Wind Turbine Drive Trains – The Coordinated System of Generator and Converter, will be held in English.

PCS will also be exhibiting an informative poster at COWEC, entitled “Power Converters for a Stable Grid – Technical Solutions for Wind Turbines to Fulfill Grid Connection Requirements (Grid Codes)”, which will present the electrical components in the drive train that can help companies to fulfill international grid code requirements.
