BigRoll takes delivery of its first vessel – the Bigroll Barentsz

bigroll barentszDutch heavy lift and marine transportation company, BigRoll Shipping, has taken delivery of its first vessel, the BigRoll Barentsz.

The vessel is designed for the marine transportation of major modules and equipment for large energy projects both onshore and offshore to remote areas, and it has the ability to operate in temperatures as low as minus 55 degrees centigrade.

The Bigroll Barentsz was handed over to its owners on Friday, April 8, 2016, by Cosco Dalian Shipyard in China.

The vessel will immediately enter into a multi-year contract with Yamgaz, the consortium of Technip, JGC Corporation and Chiyoda for module transportation as part of the Yamal LNG project, in the Russian Arctic.

The BigRoll Barentsz is the first of four  MC-Class Module Carriers BigRoll Shipping is building. The BigRoll Bering, BigRoll Baffin and BigRoll Beaufort will be delivered next.

According to available data, the second BigRoll vessel, the BigRoll Bering, is expected to be delivered in May 2016.

The remaining two vessels, BigRoll Baffin and BigRoll Beaufort, should follow with delivery anticipated to be in the second half of 2016 and early 2017.
