Boynton Inlet Dredging Plan Progresses Well (USA)

A plan for the dredging project near Boynton Inlet is moving forward.

This plan includes dredging of about 1,800 feet of the Intracoastal Waterway and 700 feet of the Boynton Beach Boat Club Channel, which goes from the inlet to the boat ramp at Harvey Oyer, Jr. Park, formerly Boat Club Park.

According to palmbeachpost.com, about 45,000 cubic yards of sand will be dumped just offshore at Ocean Ridge Hammock Park, the county park just south of the inlet.

The estimated costs of this project are about $2.5 million; the Florida Department of Environmental Protection will pay about $1.2 million (75 percent) with the Florida Inland Navigation District paying about $800,000 and Boynton Beach $40,000 to $50,000.

This dredging project should begin around January 2013.
