BP: Tangguh hits cargo deliveries record in 2016

Energy giant BP, the operator of the Tangguh LNG project in indonesia, said the facility dispatched 119 cargoes of the chilled fuel in 2016, reaching a record production.

The total volume shipped from the facility is equivalent to 117.9 standard cargoes, which according to BP’s measurements is 148,000-cbm of tanker capacity.

Tangguh delivered a total of 26 cargoes to the domestic market, consisting of PT Nusantara Regas (3 cargoes), PT PLN (15 cargoes), and PT PGN LNG Indonesia (8 cargoes).

Tangguh also shipped 93 cargoes to China, Japan, South Korea and Mexico.

In July last year, the project partners have made a final investment decision to build a third train at the facility. The third liquefaction train will add 3.8 million tons per annum of production capacity to the existing facility, bringing total plant capacity to 11.4 mtpa, with the first production expected in 2020.

The Tangguh LNG facility is located in Papua Barat Province of Indonesia and consists of offshore gas production facilities supplying two 3.8mtpa liquefaction trains that have been in operation since 2009.

Besides BP, the other partners in the Tangguh production sharing contract are MI Berau (16.30%), CNOOC Muturi (13.90%), Nippon Oil Exploration (Berau) (12.23%), KG Berau Petroleum and KG Wiriagar Petroleum Ltd (10.00%), Indonesia Natural Gas Resources Muturi (7.35%), and Talisman Wiriagar Overseas (3.06%).
