Brazil: LNG Imports Dive in 2011

Brazil, the largest country in South America, imported 556,694 mt of LNG in 2011, according to the trade statistics.

LNG imports in 2011 dropped 73.4 percent, compared to the year before.

The country currently has LNG terminals in Pecém (State of Ceará), with a regasification capacity of 7 million cubic meters per day, and in the Guanabara Bay (state of Rio de Janeiro), with capacity to regasify 14 million cubic meters per day.
