Brazil's Largest Semi-Submersible Platform Completed

Brazilian oil company Petrobras has informed that works on its P-55 platform have been completed. The production platform will today undergo stability tests, and after that, it will sail away to Roncador field in the Campos Basin.

With 52 000 tonnes, P-55 is the largest semi-submersible platform built in Brazil. It will start production in December 2013.  With the capacity to produce 180,000 barrels of oil and treat 4 million cubic meters of gas per day, the facility is one of the biggest platforms of this type in the world.

The platform will, once at the Roncador location, be connected to 17 wells. Water depth at the site is 1,800 meters.
