Buccaneer's Jack-Up Rig Arrives in Cook Inlet, Alaska

The  jack-up rig “Endeavour” which on July 31 departed from Singapore aboard the Kang Sheng Kou heavy lift vessel arrived in Alaska on Friday, August 24.

According to an e-mail sent to Offshore Energy Today by an employee of Archer Drilling, Buccaneer Energy’s jack up rig made it to Cook Inlet.

Archer Drilling has been selected as the operator of the rig. The rig will be towed to the North West Cook Inlet project to start drilling the first well of Buccaneer’s offshore campaign.

The Cook Inlet 2012 drilling season will end in early November. After that, the rig will move to southern Cook Inlet, which is ice-free in winter, to start drilling at the Cosmopolitan prospect.

The Endeavour is a Marathon LeTourneau 116-C jack-up rig. First constructed in 1982, it was upgraded in 2004.
