Bulker Suffers Blackout in Suez Canal

A bulk carrier experienced a blackout while transiting the Suez Canal on October 4, GAC said, referring to the information provided by the Suez Canal Authority.

As explained, the blackout occurred at about 12.09 hours local time.

The unnamed bulker was the sixteenth in the southbound convoy, according to GAC.

Suez Canal tugs were engaged immediately and escorted the ship to Bitter Lakes, Ismailia.

No southbound or northbound convoy ships were affected by the incident.

There have been no reports of damage.

World Maritime News contacted Suez Canal Authority and GAC Egypt for more details on the matter, however, they are yet to reply.
