Catamaran Sinks Leaving Three People Dead

Pura Vida Princess catamaran, carrying 109 people on board, sank off Costa Rica.

The incident led to a death of three elderly people, one British, one American and one Canadian.

According to the reports, the cause of the incident were strong winds and waves that tipped the boat causing it to sink within minutes.

The catamaran had sailed from Los Suenos to Tortuga (Turtle) Island when the incident happened some 15 kilometers offshore.

Earlier reports said that two people were missing, however the Vice-President of the Costa Rica Government, Ana Helena Chacon, confirmed that the remaining 106 passengers had been rescued.
