Cheniere files for permit to begin commissioning of Sabine Pass LNG Train 3

The Houston-based Cheniere Energy filed a request with FERC to introduce fuel gas and begin commissioning activities for Train 3 at the Sabine Pass liquefaction and export plant in Louisiana. 

According to the filing with the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the company requested the approval to introduce gas to Train 3 to be granted no later than August 19.

The third liquefaction train is expected to achieve substantial completion in June 2017 with the fourth train to follow soon after.

Cheniere recently informed that the commissioning process of the second train is ongoing and it expects to reach substantial completion in late September 2016, after it began production late July.

During September, Cheniere has planned an outage at the Sabine Pass facility to conduct maintenance and address flare performance.

The company plans to build over time up to six liquefaction trains at Sabine Pass, which are in various stages of development. Each train is expected to have a nominal production capacity of about 4.5 mtpa of LNG.
