Cheniere seeks Corpus Christi LNG train 1 feed gas permit

US LNG exporter Cheniere is moving ahead with its Corpus Christi liquefaction project as it requested FERC’s permit to introduce feed gas to Train 1 and commence commissioning of day flare. 

The company requested the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approve the request no later than August 16, according to the FERC filing.

Cheniere has already been granted a permit to introduce fuel gas into the first liquefaction train at its Corpus Christi LNG project in Texas for testing purposes, last month.

The company then said to LNG World News that it could start producing LNG in September and that it is on track to reach the substantial completion for the first liquefaction train in the first half of 2019.

The Corpus Christi project is a three-train liquefaction project under construction near Corpus Christi, Texas. Each train is expected to have a nominal production capacity of about 4.5 mtpa of LNG.

Cheniere has also set out plans for the construction of seven midscale liquefaction trains and an additional storage tank in the third stage of the project development. The Stage 3 project would increase the expected aggregate nominal LNG production capacity at the liquefaction project to approximately 23 mtpa.
