The US LNG export player, Cheniere, has filed a request to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to place Sabine Pass fourth liquefaction train in service.

The company noted in its filing with FERC that the commissioning demonstration tests, confirming the facilities can be operated safely, have been completed.

Additionally, Cheniere noted the that the rehabilitation and restoration of the areas affected by Train 4 are proceeding satisfactorily and no environmental problem areas or non-compliances were identified by the Commission Staff during the August inspection.

With this submittal, Cheniere has filed all documentation required by FERC staff demonstrating readiness for Train 4 to be placed into service and is requesting immediate authorization to place the Train 4 facilities in service.

Sabine Pass LNG’s fourth liquefaction train achieved first LNG production in late July and produced its first commissioning cargo in August.

Cheniere is developing up to six trains at Sabine Pass with each train expected to have a capacity of about 4.5 million tons per annum.
