China: January LNG Imports Rise 16.3 Percent YoY

China, the world’s biggest energy consumer, imported 1.51 million tons of liquefied natural gas in January, up 16.3 percent compared to a year earlier, customs data showed.

Most of the January LNG deliveries were shipped from Qatar, followed by Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt and Yemen.

China’s LNG imports reached 14.68 million tons in 2012, up 20.3% on year.

The country imported 1.83 million tons of liquefied natural gas in December.
